Description
OK you art monkeys. Here’s an idea for you. I’ve been doing this for quite some time and didn’t think much of it because I imagined that lots of people were doing the same, but apparently not!
I just took an A5 size sketchbook (cheap – quality not required) and, because I’m right handed, pasted in a series of pictures on the left hand pages. I like portraits and architecture (landscapes and still life don’t do it for me) so that’s my choice of pictures. I cut them from magazines, adverts, anything.
Now, when I have a few minutes to spare or even when I’m watching TV I can do a spot of practice drawing without getting all my art stuff out making it a major exercise. I just leave the book and a pencil on the table and grab it whenever I have a few minutes spare, or I can take a smaller version in my pocket and use it when I’m waiting in the car for someone or I’m at the doctors – you get the idea. It’s all good practice and can be put away in a few seconds.
